Monday News

The USHL's impact on the NHL draft is growing. It's too bad the NHL pays pennies on the dollar for this talent compared to what they pay the Canadian teams. That money could go a long way to improve development in the U.S.A...

I was planning on attending a session of the WSHL Midwest Division tryout camp in Addison this weekend. Unfortunately, the schedule posted on the WSHL's website was incorrect, the real schedule having been modified but not corrected online. Just as well, my understanding is that only eight draft eligible skaters and six eligible goalies showed up for the camp, plus some returning players whose rights are already held, but just wanted the ice time. Say what you will about Tim Best, but at least he knew how to put on a camp.

Finally, it appears that Bozeman will be following the Helena example in renaming their NorPac franchise after their NAHL team. Accessing BozemanBlackhawks.com redirects you to the ICEDOGS website, which had a short statement about the team joining the NorPac next year. It also seems the Gallatin Valley Hockey Club and Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association have merged their operations, which will only serve to strengthen hockey in Bozeman.
