Taking the next step

Once again, apologies for the paucity of posts this week. I've pretty much got the home PC back to normal, though I'm waiting for some new RAM to be delivered from Kingston. I'm exploring taking the blog off of blogger.com and onto its own domain. This would give me lots of options in terms of adding features and content. I'd automate a lot of the regular day-to-day news that comes in from other sources, and move it to it's own page or series of pages. The blog page itself would return to what it used to be, mostly an op/ed page with some stories and speculation (I don't want to use rumors because of the obvious connotation). The one new thing I know I want to add is a consolidated tryouts page - a one-stop source where all the teams/leagues can have their tryouts listed (for free). Obviously, it is too late in the summer to do it for this season, but I'll have plenty of time to plan it for a January launch, in time to get listings posted. I don't plan on adding a forum, because there are already plenty out there and further dilution is pointless. I'm just trying to fill a need, and that one's filled, IMHO. Beyond that I'm open to ideas, so send them in. Note to current/future advertisers: what I'm planning doesn't conflict with advertising, as what I'm doing is built on the intention of expanding my advertising potential.

That said, it's time to clean out my inbox...

The Bozeman Icedogs are hosting an alumni game in what can only be described as a final blowout for the Valley Ice Garden before it turns into a beer barn. The game will be Friday, game on August 4th at 7:05 pm. All proceeds will go to youth hockey and the new rink at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds.

Mississauga IceDogs sold to Ottawa Sens owner Eugene Melnyk. For those who haven't been following along, Melnyk also owns the St. Michael's Majors, and is expected to move the Majors into the IceDogs' Hershey Centre, and then sell off/relocate the IceDogs, perhaps to the Niagara region or western New York.
