Yes, I took yesterday off. There wasn't much news out there and the Fort Vancouver issue is finally cooling down (though I suspect it will flare up again since the Pios hold a 2-0 series lead over the Bighorns). Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun asks: Where are all the Canadians in NCAA hockey? He gets it wrong when he thinks it's an issue of Americans preferring American players. Pardon me for siding with Red Berenson on this one... Vancouver Giants owner Ron Toigo learns who runs the WHL. Perhaps the Giants will be next team to join the WHA... It was only a matter of time before the five-second faceoff rule generated some controversy... I could have mentioned this yesterday, but Patty Roy getting fined by the QMJHL isn't news anymore. However, there is no truth to the rumor the Remparts are considering joining the WHA... Looks like the USHL will be in those new-style jerseys next season, as they've re-upped their equipment deal with Reebock...
