That answers that

The announcement some of us have been anticipating - more of a foregone conclusion really... Fort Vancouver is joining the WHA.

Also, as an addendum to the policy on FV comments. From here out posts suitable for FV commenting will include the "Fort Vancouver" as a keyword. That should resolve any remaining confusion...

So....

The Pioneers are keeping thier name? Seems odd in a league with old rehashed WHA logos that they will be completely different.

What an odd league.

Unfortunately the Miami Screaming Cheaters never played a game in the old WHA, or else they could use that logo.

CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK TO THE PIONEERS - all the best to the organization in their new hockey venture. It's going to be an exciting season! Awesome news. Good for them. I think it was a great decision.

bad team moving from one bad leagur to another....why do you people think this is good hockey? a good league moves it's players on. to a higher level when. 1 player was taken from norpac in ushl draft, zero in wha, what do you people smoke to think this is good hockey?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM, May 21, 2007) :

..Norpac had ONE player make it in the USHL draft? Who would that be??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM, May 21, 2007) :

I'll give you the fact that the Norpac is horrible at promoting its players, but the USHL doesn't scout the West very much, anyway. They just depend on their pipelines with certain AAA coaches to provide them with prospects. If that works for them, great, but don't use it as a knock on other Western leagues and teams.

so who will the fv play (teams) and will the fine folks that owned it and coached the fv-pioneers in 2006-2007 still be there at all ? ( and if so why would the wha want owners/coachs like that?)

Seems like the t-hawks , totems and generals should change leagues as-well to keep the teams strong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:39 PM, May 21, 2007) :

ushl scouts globally, look at their rosters. don't remember who the kid was, he was taken in futures (aka fall) draft by tri city last year.
the league is brutal because they try to claim they are a jr. a league when they are barely jr. c

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM, May 21, 2007) :

it looked to me that a lot of these draft potentials come out of the Central Scouting group that you have to pay to be a part of (ranked). So in essence aren't you 'buying' your way into the draft? My son has gotten several of these message inquiries saying they scouted him at some camp, etc. and for "x' amount of dollars they can promote him, etc.

"Seems like the t-hawks , totems and generals should change leagues as-well to keep the teams strong. "

ya, maybe there is a JR C league out there they can apply to. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 PM, May 21, 2007) :

When you look at USHL rosters, you will almost always see any player from the West coming from a AAA program. They like to say they scout 'globally,' but the best they do out West is make a few phone calls to guys they know.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:56 PM, May 21, 2007) :

USHL doesn't use that pay "central scouting" site. They have their own USHL Central Scouting site & team of scouts...take a look at their website.

Never pay anyone to promote your player. Do your homework and get them in the AAA programs that have history of moving kids on and don't buy into most the hype coming from lower echelon junior leagues (Jr C, Tier III Jr A).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:58 PM, May 21, 2007) :

There's not the depth of players out west to justify too many trips out there to scout. That's why so many of the AAA programs come to Chicago, Detroit, Toronto to play in the major tournies where the players can get seen...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:54 PM, May 21, 2007) :

It's great that Joe Loftgrin and Tim O'Neal can continue to be part of the FTV Pioneers and part of hockey!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:30 PM, May 21, 2007) :

thank you for the education re: USHL and the Central Scouting program. Very helpful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:22 PM, May 21, 2007) :

Whats the over under on the amount of times Jon crosses the boarder before he gets caught?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 AM, May 22, 2007) :

i'd like to know what governing body is recognising the wha as jr. A? what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 AM, May 22, 2007) :

Be very careful of the USHL central scouting. All they want is your $325.00! It is a scam! Be very careful in dealing with this so called central scouting firm lol run by Bib Turow. If the USHL really wants your kid they won't be asking him for $325.00

Wow, just think; Joey, Timmy, Cheeksy and Johnny get to join little Ricky and Bobby! What a happy family they will make! Spaghetti and Kool Aid every night. Oh yeah, and lots of beer and billet moms for the players! Party on boys, I'm going to miss it. Ft. Van will win this (Jr.A?) league going away. Maybe the WHA will even have enough money to complete the season if Joey saves enough after buying a few players. Welcome back to hockey boys! Loftgren was right when he said that the team with the most money wins, I just don't know what they win, ethics? No, life lessons? No, College? Oh yeah, you would have to promote your players, I forgot. Thanks for a very embarrasing season
