i believe the plan isn't to put the USHL on hold for a year, but instead to put the completion of the entire 5-rink center on hold and concentrate on building the 'main' rink in order for the USHL franchise to be able to use it in '08.

What i found interesting was: "financing for major construction is still not solidified."
i believe before now they had been quite adamnent that they were on solid financial ground, claiming to have sold more then half the suites and a number of season tickets already (although none of those i've talked {even those who are eager for the USHL to come back to fargo} have paid a dime)

Appears the financing is in place as it has been for some time. Just waiting on gov't (ie.IRS) to confirm non-profit status of foundation so bonds can be issued. In fact, sounds like bonds have been restructured for less, so Phase I arena can get off the ground. Once again, waiting on the gov't and that is the scary part!

another article in today's forum discusses the financial issue a bit more.
Concerns about the project became public Wednesday when Huffman announced it had been split into two phases...But rumblings about the center’s finances have been around longer.
The Forum last week made open records requests to several city of Fargo, Fargo Park District and Fargo School District employees.

e-mails indicate that attempts have been made to run payroll and health insurance costs for foundation employees through the School District.
“At this time we have about $48,000 remaining in the check book. We will need to talk with Todd (Berning, development director for Icon Architectural Group, a partner in Urban Plains) & Al (Hintz, of Fargo Flyers Hockey) to see when we will be getting more from Bremer (Bank). I want to make sure we hold enough back from the construction so we can make sure we make payroll and cover the critical expenses.”
