How to win friends and...

A quick thought regarding some recent fallout in the WSHL. If Gerry Lullove and his partners didn't get the Texas Chiefs into the WSHL based on a platform of negative campaigning and smears, what makes him think that this rant is going to win them any converts? Congrats to the WSHL for making the right decision.

I'm going to post it here verbatim lest it gets removed at some future point.
The Texas Chiefs attended the annual W.S.H.L. annual meeting where they were accepted into the league pending a venue change. This came about with no precidence set to have equal distance between the two teams that would be in Dallas. The Existing Dallas Titans applied for a second franchise to play in Ft Worth which was granted to offset the Texas Chiefs challenge to the area. This attempt to keep the Texas Chiefs who already were showing a very strong presence with Brent Severyn & Cosmo Clarke leading the team, The Titans, were given this unprecidented and without due diligence a second team in the W.S.H.L. when Dr. Snyder a cardiologist from the area guarenteed the financial support for the two teams. Dr. Snyder, who has a son , a goalie, plays for the Jesuit High School team that Mr. Best coaches. There are no rinks in the area which fall within the conditions set for the Texas Chiefs to play so the Texas Chiefs organization withdrew it's application. " We are unhappy about the outcome, and about the fact that the WSHL has created an exclusive opportunity for the Titans and hasn't concerned itself with the opinions and the freedom of choice in the Dallas area. The WSHL offered other locations within the state of Texas but the Texas Chiefs are committed to the players of the Dallas area in providing them a stable and developmental opportunity for movement to the next level, Jr A or College without the concerns of last season's".
That's a straight copy & paste folks.

Incoherence of the rant aside, the facts are pretty skewed. First off, the Chiefs were never accepted. They were denied, but invited to resubmit for any market 40 miles away from any rink used by a WSHL team. The issues of "precedence" are really nothing more than the failure of Lullove's game plan. He went in attacking an existing team in good standing with the league. Although the Titans were out of Addison Square Garden (thanks to Lullove's friends), they had every intention of playing at nearby ITC Richardson. As such, the Titans were well within their rights to protect their territorial rights. Had Lullove's plan to place a team in Tarrant County, he very likely would have succeeded. Tim Best's aspiration to see a second team in the Metroplex was no secret, and congrats to him for the vision and effort to make it happen. The mention of Best's relationship with Rick Snyder is non sequitur and nothing more than a continuation of the smear campaign that Lullove's group started from the outset.

Also, it's hard to withdraw when you are denied. It's like the old line "you can't fire me, I QUIT!" Well, it was a little late for that. Lullove wants to save face, and that's fine. But if he was going to withdraw, it should have been when he looked down at his copy of the WSHL meeting agenda and noticed that following the Chiefs' presentation was Best's presentation of the Texans.

These two were playing with the same board, but while Lullove was playing checkers... Best was playing chess. I don't entirely fault Lullove for his failure. I believe he and some of the others were led down a path of bad intelligence by one of the partners. Lullove was not expecting a fight because he was led to believe he was dealing with an idiot and he showed up with just enough cards in his hand to beat an idiot.

Meanwhile, I know what to get Lullove and company for Christmas this year.
