Another response

Note: Updated to include the full interview.

I do feel sorry for the Santa Fe owner regarding Krupka's comments. I read somewhere that a new business takes on average six years to be profitable, and she hasn't even got in a year yet.

Having said that, what the USHL has on the NAHL --- besides better political connections at USA Hockey --- is that its franchises are bunched better, geographically. The NAHL is too spread out, and this may have been the point that the vocabulary-challenged Krupka was trying to make.

Here's some props for the Albuquerque Journal!

I went to the Roadrunners website and their News section shows a wrap-up of other NAHL games that didn't involve Santa Fe. That's what the league cities need more of! Get the public to know the other teams and even some of the opposing players and perhaps more interest can be generated. The casual fan gets a better chance to see the bigger picture and not just the Runners and a bunch of opponents named Joe who show up every weekend.

For all they're trying to establish there and all the right things they seem to be doing, I sure hope that franchise makes it in that city.

Thanks for posting the link. I thought Langer handled everything very well. Krupka should study that interview as an example of how to say matters in a way that makes the point but does not piss off everyone.
