More on FV from The Columbian

Someone posted the article in the comments, but it needs to be here on the front as well. Some interesting parts:
But USA Hockey has not yet decided if the Pioneers will be allowed to participate in its national tournament.

David Tyler, a vice president with USA Hockey who oversees the Junior B tournament, said that the agreement between the Pioneers and the NORPAC does not bind USA Hockey to allow the Pioneers into the national tournament.
Documents indicate the Pioneers paid $5,000 apiece to John Sitton and Alex Hager, players who joined the team late last season.
"As we've stated and will continue to state: that was for college tuition reimbursement," Loftgren said of the money paid to Sitton and Hager. "We do not feel we violated any rules and regulations."

Why they paid for two players that were awful... one may never know!

But, Joe and Tim sure know hockey! (Cough, cough!). And The L.A. Kings are going to win the Cup this year.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM, March 16, 2007) :

"YES" we need to start the playoff over !! give the big horns a free ride. and start the pacific over.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM, March 16, 2007) :

Start over for 2 players from last year??? get over it....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:40 PM, March 16, 2007) :

Two players?!? If you believe this whole big can of worms was just about two players from last year then I've got some oceanfront property in Ohio to sell you. Tim and Joe admitted to paying players over 35K this season and last. And Joe would have you belive through his statements to the press that it was all above board (scholarships, reimbursed tuition, blah, blah, blah). And if that's the case then why didn't they disclose all of this to the Norpac? Why did it take an investigation to bring all of this to light? If the Pio's organization had nothing to hide then why did they? Things that make you go hmmmmmm!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 PM, March 16, 2007) :

HMMMMMMMMMMM.... TRY READING 101....did any other names get mentioned???? let's deal with the facts listed Mr. oceanfront...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM, March 16, 2007) :

It was not just two players. (who got paid) I agree with the person who said that Helena should get a buy to nationals. Let them advancee. Dishonest organizations should not be rewarded. The Pioneer players had a good season, that should be reward enough for them, so it's not 'hurting them' to not play at nationals. Tim and Joe will not be hurt if the team doesn't go to nationals, they already have their sights on other leagues, they've moved on.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 PM, March 16, 2007) :

Who cares!!! The Pioneers will get justice when they lose there planned law suit to the norpac!

We all know that they will try... and lose because they are liars. People hate Joe from what I hear, why do you think that people continue to mention his name the most?

Joe is fool and will get what he deserves later!

I think someone else needs to read the article again. It says this started by players from last years team, and they sited those two names from last year.

I know of at least six players on this years team that have not paid a dime to play this year, and have also received sticks, skates, and airline tickets. Let me say that again "This years team."

The investigation started over things from last year, and they have continued into this year.

By the way I heard that the I only skate at away rinks, and I don't need to practice with the team, got to skate double the shifts of the players that have skated everygame and practice. Don't get carried away either he only had 7 points during the regular season. 7th on the team by defenseman. I am thinking that they have to much money invested into this kid to not let him play.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:35 AM, March 17, 2007) :

Oh yeah I forgot to mention there were players last year that also received free team fees, billet fees, tickets, and equipment. It just happens these are the only two kids that actually got checks cut in their names. That was not smart, it left a paper trail.

Joe keep telling yourself it was college reimbursement. Hager and Sitton were not playing college, or even attending, so what are they being reimbursed for. Get real, call it what you want, but they are gifts and they are not allowed by the NCAA.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:31 AM, March 17, 2007) :

Where does a Junior team come up with that kind of money to pay players??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 PM, March 17, 2007) :

Hey uncle Joe! Pay me pay me Play me play me pay me Play me. Can't wait to see were they have a team next year maybe they will call themselves Evergreens!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM, March 17, 2007) :

its amazing how a couple of DONKEYS can put a VERY BLACK EYE on the greatest game on ice.!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM, March 17, 2007) :

Loved the comment about the Pioneers changing their name to the Evergreens! Too funny. Well, they are off to nationals.

you dont even know the backstory on this situation and the kid is a stay at home defensemen. he does the dirty work in the D zone so points dont matter to him as long as pucks dont get scored. plus a key penalty killer.

Can someone clear this up for me? The families of the players who play on the NorPace teams pay their team fees, billet fees, pay for their equipment, etc (unless you play for VanCouver, then Joe takes care of it).

As I understand it from the wife of a coach, a team can't make a player go to school or work, since the palyers family pays their fees. So, how in the world are these kids being "reimbursed for college classes"? It's not part of the NorPac rules that they attend school.

I've heard that Eugene tells their players if they want to play they need to have a job. These young men need to learn responsibility and find out how far "their" money goes instead of their parents, so I can't say I disagree withy thisl

Can someone clear up the confusion regarding college reimbursement. quote?

Kind of reminds me of two quotes: "I didn't inhale" is like "I didn't pay players" and "I didn't have sexual relations with that girl" is like "I didn't pay any players".

Thanks!

Mike Butters, the president of the Helena team put on quite a seen riding around on the zamboni threatening to throw out all the pioneer fans from game 3 ( for him getting hit with a chuck a puck) nice call, also his players not suited making life threats at the pioneers trainer and owner great job and this is the person that is trying to get rid of the pioneers, I think he should not through stones when he lives in a glass house. After going to a lot of game this year the Helena fans were the worst I have ever been around, young Helena women calling pioneer women fans some of the worst things I have heard. Not all the Helena fans fit in that mold but if the shoe fits ………

After witnessing some of the behaviour from the Pioneer fans, they can be quite rude as well. There's one lady who comes to Tri when the Pios playeed there (If there was a down-pour she'd drown from her nose being so high in the air)- she walked into one game and actually threw her money at my daughter who was helping at the table. This is the same lady who was in the womens room, keeping the team from getting in the showers. When she was told she had about 2 minutes before the team came in, she got all piffy and said the Tri fans were rude. What'd she want - 25 naked boys in the restroom with her (unless she's the billet that was doing her player)?

How do you expect home teams fans to conduct themselves with all that's going around about the Pios. You want to witness rude fans, go to a Spokane Chiefs game when they play the Americans. Talke about rude fans, it's scarey. Come on.

Will the Pioneers be allowe to play in the National tournament?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 AM, March 18, 2007) :

Mike Butter's called the Pio's classless, Yeah Good call from someone who's own fan's drank more beer than most college frat parties. Bighorn fan's threatening the Pio fan's , player's and egging and urinating on the team bus as it was parked @ the hotel. CLASSY !!

I loved how many bull$hit penalties fort got and still crushed the bighorns.

then the brawl @ the end, took 2 bighorn players to take down our player, then as the pio whooped up on the loser, 3 other bighorn player's jumped him while the NORPAC ref just watched. That ref should be banned for life. What a $hitshow team and loser fans in helena. Want to see something sad, go to helena and watch all the drunks leave the game and endanger the innocent lives of all the poor bighorn sheep in that pitiful town.

I feel bad for all the parents, friend's and relatives who took the long trip to helena and had to listen to mike butter's and his inbred fan's taunt and threaten them.

sorry you all are such poor loser's.

what has 400 pair of eyes and 2 teeth ?

THE BIGHORN FAN'S !!!!

Backstory on the kid. Are you kidding me? Lets see, he first gets busted while shpliffting. If this isn't enough he then assaults sevearl employess while they try and take him into custody. For his punishment he has to clean the rink with others that were there for drinking on the bus. He then draws a penis and F*** Y** on the glass in glass cleaner. Don't let me forget to mention that this is during a public skate.

The next day after several complaints from parents he is banned from his home rink for practice and games. It is then reported he is kicked off of the team. That last until the first road game where he starts (Game 3 vs. Eugene). He takes the week off of practice and then plays in his next available game (Game 3 Helena), and gets booted with other Pio's at the end of the game.

I do not care if this kid back checks, forechecks, writes bad checks, scores 50 goals, or no goals, this is a player that should not be rewarded for his actions.

I am curious if he paid back the bail money from the team, or if that too is considered "college reimbursement".

The Pio's have a great product on the ice, now lets clean up everything else, and let it all be about the players on the ice.

Oh yeah hint to USHockey, if you do not want to be the bad guy and make a ruling, just random the team in MI and watch them fall. Just something else that is allowed. I can not believe that Tri-Cities has a pre screen and random policy. What are they thinking? You to could have players like these.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:21 AM, March 18, 2007) :

congrats to the pio player's for dominating this year and good luck in nationals :)

you the PLAYERS deserve the victory, you have worked your tails off, all the negative people on this blog are obviously the losing rivals that couldn't win against you guys by playing a legit game, they had to try to cheat , lie and exploit your team because they don't have a great work ethic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:33 PM, March 18, 2007) :

GeeWhiz, If the skate was on the other foot for the Pio's, I think they would feel differently. Remember that it IS certain people from the Pioneer organization and their actions that put the negativity onto your team. How come when a Eugene General's fan showed a (money) sign at the game she was ejected from the stadium, but for a Pio fan to throw a puck at someone on the ice, that's no big deal? I was there and the only person who was asked to leave was the ONE person responsible for that act.

ATTENTION
50% refunds checks for a tainted/unfair season should be mailed out june 1.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:20 PM, March 18, 2007) :

he didnt get booted at the end of the 3rd helena game, he separated his shoulder with 8 mins left.

you dont even know the kid. i do, ive grown up with him, hes made some bad choices but he loves the game and his bad choices off the ice shouldnt affect the good ones he makes on the ice. yes it should be enforced but when hes thrown off the team, what is he going to do? im glad he stayed and accomplished what he worked so hard the past 2 years for, a chance for nationals.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:05 PM, March 18, 2007) :

Choices off the ice are a big deal when you get arrested.... lack of a moral standard by pios coach let him stay...what a joke...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:42 PM, March 18, 2007) :

Hmmmm, money left over for refunds?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM, March 18, 2007) :

The Ft. Fan players did win nationals, they are some good hockey players, what they aren't are good role models...the person who was glad the kid that got into trouble was able to continue to play "for the 2 years" he worked hard, get real you don't award folks for poor choices..life is about choices and we have the choice to make correct ones and to face the consequenses for the wrong ones. Being a good hockey player isn't the end all, a decent human being is.........

First of all, I want to say congrats to the Pioneers. We have been fans for 3 years and we went to Montana to root them on. I have watched them lose in playoffs and I wasn't go to miss a chance for them to win. The Bighorns had absolutely every chance to beat us with all the penalties and they couldn't convert. I was so impressed with the way our boys played.

As for class.....when the puck was thrown on the ice we were all going to be tossed unless someone confessed. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the identity when the # is written on the puck and the name that was associated with it was listed on Bighorns puck shoot. Nice try Butters!

HAHAHAHA....change the name of the Pioneers to Evergreens. That is hilarious. I can barely contain myself. Better yet, change the other teams names to SORE LOSERS!!!!
