Battle Creek is now up on the board as the latest market to be considered for a USHL franchise. I never understood why Kellogg Arena, with a capacity of around 4,500, wasn't built with ice capacity, but other than that as an arena it's grrrrrrrrrrrr-eat! (sorry, couldn't resist)... Seriously though, while it's crazy to think all these potential franchises are going to come online at once - I wouldn't expect more than 1-2 a year - the USHL seems to have a clear vision of where they want to go and what kind of league they want to be. From the Devil take the hindmost department, Kingston has been knocked out of the running for the 2008 Memorial Cup. Given their recent arena squabbles I'm not terribly surprised. Kitchener, London, Oshawa, Saginaw, and Sarnia will make their pitch April 18. Neate Sager has an interesting take on the cut, and here's the local story... Crown drops six charges against David Frost... QMJHL releases schedule format for 2007-08... Cape Breton players escape injury after car mishap... Some people believe hockey is alive locally in Texarkana, but don't expect them to return to the NAHL anytime soon... Now if you'll be so kind as to excuse me, I have to go finish reading my love letters from Fort Vancouver... |

if they put together a team in Battle Creek, hope they don't get sucked into letting that midget major joke of a coach out of Kalamazoo run the team. He'll bury the team before it ever gets off the ground.
