Get a grip

Well, it was bound to happen. Based on some of the comments, a few of you didn't like my joke for April Fool's Day. I'm not sure if the original objector is referring to the comment about Ron White or the blog post in general. If it's the comment, I didn't write it and don't support it. If it's the post, get a sense of humor and give me a freaking break. I suppose the Edmonton Sun lost all sorts of credibility Sunday for reporting that the Oilers were being relegated to the AHL next season.

Sure, I went fishing Sunday. Thing is, some folks didn't just take the bait, they swallowed the hook - despite the fact I put a link into the end of the post that gave away the punchline. A lot people apparently took the post as fact and stopped reading partway through - shades of Orson Welles and The War of the Worlds. I think the fact so many people (judging by the response Chris Perry and I received) took the post as indisputable fact is a testament to people's faith in what I write.

As for my general credibility, judging by the consistent growth in 1) traffic to my site (March 2007 saw ten times the traffic as March 2006), 2) positive feedback, and 3) requests for my advice, I'd say my credibility is ever on the rise.

i wanted to come on here and call you an idiot, but after seeing that picture of you in the jester hat... i had to resist- you are just too easy a target. entire life devoted to junior hockey. sure you may get traffic from some parents who want to see what new tier 5 junior D league is opening up, but in the grand sceme of everything, is that really what you want to be known for. guys like you and Stephen Heisler- the king of fake knowledge, need to just move on, take some time off from doing something that has no influence on anything

It seems to me that Marc was just adding to a media tradition:

The legend of Sidd Finch was my favorite.

I laughed my a$$ off at that. I was buying it hook, line and sinker too! That is until I clicked the link. If people were idiotic enough to not click on the link to give it away, that is their fault/problem. Some people need to get a grip on life if they are angry over that.

I read the SWJHL article and being new to your site, I admit, I bought it. I didn't click on the link, my fault. Bottom line, it was in good fun, it's your blog and you do a good job with it. Your efforts are much appreciated, despite what some of the losers like Clark say.
