Friday News (and new policy)

Medford ropes in hockey franchise in the form of the Rouge Valley Wranglers. Is it me, or from a distance does the cowboy in the logo look like he's riding a giant chicken? Maybe I need new glasses. I do know this, the cowboy from the logo is a direct theft, albeit stylized (dumbed down), of the Las Vegas Wranglers. I'll try to do a full comparison over the weekend. Guys, if you're going to steal from someone else's logo, you could at least pick a team with a different sport and nickname...

Also, for those of you weren't following the comments in yesterday's thread, I have a new policy - no Fort Vancouver comments on posts that have nothing to do with Fort Vancouver. I'm tired of both sides of this issue corrupting unrelated posts with your squabbles. If you want to continue on, go find an old FV thread and post there. I'd rather not shut down comments completely, though I have done so in the past when people get completely out of control.

Hey guys: It's Rogue (as in Ronin) not Rouge (French for RED). So the spelling will make the difference in whether you can find the website. Even their website has the wrong spelling in it (but not in the URL).
It' going to be a serious travel issue for them. They are about 475 miles from the Seattle Totems (western division) and 1150 miles from the Billings Bulls (Eastern division). Makes for a lot of hours on the old Greyhound!

does McBride have any ties to this team? He owns the other two Oregon Jr B teams (Eugene and RiverRats)

The cowboy with hockey stick in hand is same, but the LV logo has him riding a bull. The Medford logo is a horse. But same colors... hummm.

I love the logo! And who cares... the LV Wranglers are professional and this new team is amateur - there are many amateur teams that model off of pro logos. . . at least it is not exactly the same! Oh and I checked the website and I see no spelling errors...?

The red line of the first solid red bar was spelled ROUGE the first two times I looked at the site. Been corrected! Good - they are top of it.

Now all they need to do is fix their logo before the Las Vegas Wranglers and the original designer sue them.

Let's see... plagiarism... The New York Jr. Bobcats (AJHL) and Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL)... the Wichita Falls Wildcats (NAHL) and Prince George Cougars (WHL)... and countless pro ripoffs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:52 AM, May 20, 2007) :

Prince George (WHL) and Wichita Falls (NAHL) are both owned by Rick Brodsky, which is why they both sport the same logo.

IS IT TRUE THAT ONIEL BOUGHT THE JR.B RIGHT/TEAM IN LAS VEHAS AND WILL PLAY IN THE WSHL ?

Last post, are you talking about Tim O'Neil?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM, May 20, 2007) :

NY Bobcats started by same original owner of the Bismarck Bobcats the same year.
