Thursday News
Things seem to be slowing down finally... there may be unofficial news on the worst-kept secret in the NAHL if the State Journal-Register out of Springfield would get with the times and post their day's stories before three in the afternoon. Official news on that same front is like the song from Annie: "...always a day away...." When it does come down - how much news to expect is still in question. Earlier this week I had placed in my own mind the odds that the USHL would land an existing franchise in Bloomington, IL for this season at maybe 50-50 due to the collapse of the UHL, but the situation is so dynamic my opinion on this seems to change by the hour. The UHL meltdown has been a wild process, and if there's no bailout or merger then I'd say it's a lock. I don't have a lot of real info here, but it's something for folks to keep in their back pocket... Cape Breton Screaming Eagles look to host 2008 Q draft... AJHL championship has new major sponsor... OHL unfazed by Toronto void... |

As of this moment, the State Journal-Register has some local sports stories with today's date, but alas, none of them are hockey related.
You have to be kidding me!!! What is this worst kept secret? I feel like I'm pretty good at keeping my finger on the pulse of junior hockey but you have me stumped!!!
I could be wrong, but I think the "secret" has something to do with a prominent figure leaving a high profile position south of Springfield. If I am right (and that rarely happens), Marc's post today seems to indicate that perhaps this person is going back to the place he first achieved national success.
2+2=4,
tc -> sjb?
Your arithmetic skills are good. I'm still not positive that is the "secret," but sources in Frisco say at least half of your equation is correct. The other half certainly makes sense.
so....
tc->somwhere
I think people are reading too much into Springfield as a landing point for TC, and should just focus on the fact TC used to play there and still has connections (sometimes a cigar is just a cigar). My understanding is that Dan Trello, the Blues' beat writer, has talked to Curtale and the Tornado. One told him more than the other, not hard to figure out which is which. I thought there might be something in today's paper that would precede the announcement, but obviously that hasn't happened.
But yes, we are all waiting for the official announcement that Tony Curtale has been fired by the Texas Tornado. There, I said it...
Fired! Can't win that fourth in row and kaboom. Texas must be the land of uber-competitiveness

maybe they were tired of the AAA team producing more D1 players than the junior team in the past 4 seasons....just a thought!
(above) OUCH! LOL!!!
