Tuesday News

July 1 has passed... not heard anything on the fate of the Tier III-A applications...

Carolina Hurricanes scouting director Sheldon Ferguson named GM of Saginaw Spirit (includes video)...

I don't see too many Minnesota Jr. B stories posted in the media, so here's an interview with Minnesota Ice Hawks head coach Nick Fatis...

For that matter, CHA articles are rare as well, so here's one on the Hampton Roads Whalers.

Not sure about other folks, but I was unaware that Jean-Guy Trudel owned a 20% stake in the Peoria Mustangs...

I wonder how long it will be before the new hi-tech Reebok jerseys filter down to juniors?

Corrections on the Virginian-Pilot article about the CHA's Hampton Roads Whalers. The Whaler's have a "C" and "B" team that play in the CHA and they also have an independent team that is above those two teams. The article incorrectly identified this team as an "A" team and also identified Kevin Vanous in the picture as a member of the "A" team, he is on the "B" team.

FYI, Jimmy McGroarty was named the new head coach for the Lincoln Stars (USHL) this morning. More details can be found on the Stars website.

The article on Reebok made me thing of this :)

Heres a fact about the NHL I think we'll all enjoy.
This coming season the NHL is finally going back to the white uni's for home and the dark uni's for the road.

Corrections on the Hampton Team? C'mon. Just another long line of B.S. from another team calling itself Jr. A. Also they were 30-0-5. Not an undefeated season. I can assume the "5" were overtime or shootout "losses."

The promise of D-I schollys and Jr. A is a little too much to handle. When is USAH gonna start punishing these misleaders of the truth. This outfit has a C, B and Independent D team, which they are conveniently calling junior A. It makes me sick. Good thing I did a little leg work. I actually was gonna send my kid there to tryout.

The 5 on the Hampton Roads record were ties. The independent team's schedule includes several showcase tournaments and games with OPJHL and NAHL teams as well as teams from other leagues. This program is a great thing for the growth of junior hockey in the southeast which has a very long way to go. Not wanting to send your kid to this program is fine but why be critical about an opening or oportunity for others. Our sports takes enough bashing from the outside. Be happy that junior hockey is expanding and growing. I hope your son has a great season.
